Hello all,

I would appreciate some advice on landing a decent (3+ star) hotel in SoMa or USE for 1 night on 5/30.

I've been bidding for the last couple of days and was rejected even at $135 for 2.5 star in those districts. I see people on this forum getting really good deals at less than $100 for 4 star hotels. I understand there is a major convention going on this weekend, and also the fact that it's memorial day.

In view of this, what strategy should I apply in order to get a successful bid? Do I know I am close to success if priceline suggests I raise my bid by 'x' amount of dollars?

I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll move this thread to that section of the board.

For this stay, do you need to be in the USE or Soma zones? For example, HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the USW zone for $113/nite and/or a 4* hotel in the Embarcadero zone for $119. These two zones sit adjacent to the two that you're bidding, would you accept a hotel in either of these zones? (given you have already bid high for a much lesser rated property)
