Hi!

I needed a hotel in the downtown Dallas area once again, so I started my bidding using the PRICELINE link. I lucked out last year with a great hotel that I'd been in before, but this year I got a new hotel. Variety is good!

I started my bidding very low, and despite starting much later than when I got my deal on this trip last year, I bid in one or two dollar increments. I used the tips on this board to maximize the number of possible re-bids, so I could take my time. :) I also kind of overlapped my bids, starting the next day a little lower than when I left off, just in case I was super lucky and the market changed... hey, it was a theory.

Eventually I won my four-night stay at The Adolphus, rated four-star by Priceline, for $68!

The Adolphus is several blocks closer to the convention hotel (Sheraton) than where I was last year (the Hyatt Regency) but a tad further from the light rail. Ehh, even last year I walked home and it wasn't a big deal.

I looked over my notes from last year's trip (Hyatt Regency Dallas, $58) and wondered if I reached a higher number because I didn't start as early as last year. I can 'logic it out' either way - starting earlier there are more rooms available at lower prices, versus starting later means a hotel is more desperate to fill rooms, and will accept lower bids.

Either way, it beats the convention hotel, and is a lot of fun too. Thanks BetterBidding!
