Hotwire Hotel: Hotwire Area recommendations - Port of Miami

Can anyone tell me which areas of Miami on HOTWIRE I should exclude from my search to ensure that I will be fairly close to the Port of Miami?

Thank you for any suggestions you can offer. Right now there are reasonable 4 star offerings in the Downtown Miami and Coral Gables-Cocunut Grove area.

I am interested in this thread, as I have never used either HOTWIRE or PRICELINE, and will be booking a hotel in Miami for 3 nights pre-cruise. I am hoping for the downtown area. I will read the reviews of various hotels in that area, but I am curious, if I do find a hotel I really like, (and I realize there are no guarantees here), am I more likely to be able to narrow it to a specific hotel by using one site (HOTWIRE or PRICELINE) over the other? I was hoping to spend less than $100/night.

(Edit: thereuare, I note you stayed at the Hyatt pre-cruise, looks like a good choice! Now I have to read the other threads on getting that; any tips???)

This will be a one night precruise stay at the end of August but we are going to be there most of the day. Would like to stay in an area that has shopping, markets and eatery's. Will spend up to about $100. I just plan on taking the best deal available for a 4 star in the areas that are recommended.

I know there have been many hotel and port of miami questions but I have not been able to find a definitive answer regarding the most favorable locations/zones on Priceline and Hotwire.
