Jonathan83 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Going to NYC for an anniversary trip with my wife. Looking at 10/8-10/11. Want a 4* in Manhattan any area. Love NYC, have been there before, but never stayed on the island. Looking for around $200 base price. Will this be possible at that time of year?
thereuare Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! To confirm... in addition to the most commonly bid zones (CPS, ESB, MTE, MTW and TS), you're also willing to accept Downtown, Hells Kitchen, and UWS?Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.... and click this PRICELINE link before replying. Jonathan83 Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 Yep. I'll take any of those 4* areas you mentioned. I know this is an expensive time of year so I'm a little nervous about making this happen.

thereuare Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 At the 4* level in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones. Jonathan83 Posted May 28, 2010 Author Report Posted May 28, 2010 Thanks. I'll give it a shot. Think there's any hope of getting one for under $200 at this time of year?
AaronJB Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 This is traditionally a rather busy/expensive period of the year. However, while under $200 may be a little tough, if you were successful and were able to lock in something now, it may look like an even better deal closer to the dates. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jonathan83 Posted October 13, 2010 Author Report Posted October 13, 2010 I've been looking for a 4* hotel in Manhattan for months now for the dates 10/22/10-10/25/10 (Friday - Sunday). I haven't found anything under (or even close to) $200/night. By reading this board and doing lots of research I learned that this is typically one of the busiest/most expensive times of year so I was content to stay cheaper in Jersey and deal with the buses. However, last night (10/12) I randomly searched Hotwire and found the deal stated above: $189/night for all three nights, which ended up being the W New York in Midtown East. I am so shocked because I have looked for so long that I don't actually believe it's true. I even called the hotel this morning to confirm my reservation, even though they say you don't have to. I've read the reviews, I know the rooms will be small (it is NY afterall), but I'm not reading anything about bedbugs on any review site. Should I be worried? Is this too good to be true?
thereuare Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. Also, does this replace your previous NYC hotel stay request?? Jonathan83 Posted October 13, 2010 Author Report Posted October 13, 2010 The amenities shown before my purchase were:Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business CenterHigh-speed Internet Access Spa Services Yes. We moved the trip back a few weeks to accommodate our work schedule, but yes, it is the same trip so this would replace the previous request. Thanks for all the help.
