NNZ Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 update:i got Omni for $123/night for my 5/28 stay. When I bidded for $100 and got rejected, i was told that i can win by adding $23. Since I will leave tomorrow morning and don't have time to try again, I raised my bid to $123. The price after tax and fees is $150 which is much higher than my budget. But with my $75 bid for 5/26 and 5/27, the average price after tax and fees is $112/night. Although I couldn't get Hyatt Regency for the 3rd day's stay, I am still quite happy with the result. :-)
AaronJB Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Sorry to hear that you weren't able to get the Hyatt for the 3rd night, but certainly a solid deal for this Omni hotel. Glad you're pleased with the result.Thank you for sharing your result with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
Gallus50 Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 NNZ - Sounds like you did fine, but it also sounds like you need to learn about free rebids. In a town like SF, there are free rebid zones that don't have 4* hotels. When these are present, you can decline PRICELINE's # and try rebidding for just a bit more. It gives you significant wiggle room. Check out the FAQs and have a good time in SF.

NNZ Posted June 12, 2010 Author Report Posted June 12, 2010 hi Gallus50, thanks for the tip. But I did use free zones. I used priceline to bid hotels for a few years and I know how free zones work. Well this time, unfortunately I used up all the free zones but still couldn't get one. Anyway, thank you for the advise :)
Gallus50 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Great, NNZ. Glad to hear it. Didn't mean to sound condescending, but I hate to see people - especially me - leave money on the table. I couldn't tell you had already gone through a bidding cycle. Since you had such a tight window, you did well. I've heard the Omni is a fabulous hotel. Hope you enjoyed it.
