Priceline Hotel: 4* Chicago (NMA-River North) W Hotel Lakeshore

Just one night stay (5/28-5/29) in Chicago to show my wife the Second City.

Started from last week and tried luck from $40+ to $68 for 3.5* and above in the zone of Millenium Park, Loop & Grant Park with adding the free re-bidding zones but without success.

Read several posts here and found there might be some convention there in the period and of course the Memorial Day weekend as well. So need to expedite the process.

Started from $70 in the zone of North Michigan Avenue - River North Area, failed but received a message indicating an increase of $18 so that I can get another chance to re-bid for the same zone / same date without changing any condition - which is 1st time for me to see such message on Priceline. I guessed it must be lower than $18 to increase to get the deal. Instead, added $8 and add the zone of Millenium Park, Loop & Grant Park - I still hoped to get the room in that zone due to the proximity to the major places of interests. Accepted by W Hotel Lakeshore, 4 stars ($78 + $19.43 tax&fee). It's a good hotel and I've been stayed there. Modern, fancy, clean, neat and nothing to complain except for the location. Last time I was able to see the Navy Pier from the window but there's a little walk to the Millenium Park. Need to get back to prepare the itinerary for the 1-day visit now.

Pretty impressive deal for the time period, plus for this W hotel, which hasn't been seen as a PRICELINE win in quite a while. I'll also recommend Fox and Obel Market and Cafe as a nice place to stop, which is a couple of minutes walk away on McClurg and Illinois (fox-obel.com.)
