alarkin15 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Hi, this is my first time using PRICELINE and I'm curious about how much I should bid.We are staying one night, 6/4 - 6/5, and would like a 4* (preferable) or 3.5* hotel. We have dinner reservations in SoHo, but we're flexible on the neighborhood we stay in.Ideally, we'd like our bid to be $135 with a maximum bid of $150. Do you think this is possible in a 4* hotel? Is there a better chance in one neighborhood over another? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)You mention being flexible about neighborhood, but is there a distance you would not want to be further than from the restaurant in Soho?I think a 4* bid under $150 is likely in the Downtown-Soho-Financial District, and there is actually what appears to be the 4* Embassy Suites NY for $159 in the downtown-soho area on HOTWIRE for this date. $120 would appear to be a good starting point bid for a 4* in the Downtown-Soho-Financial area on PRICELINE for these dates. If you are looking for the area where the lowest-priced 4* is, it would likely be the Downtown-Soho-Financial area; if you are looking for a more central location, you could bid for one of the Midtown areas, although a winning bid looks as if it may take $150+.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
alarkin15 Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 Great, thanks for the advice. We'd really stay anywhere below CPS, but since the SoHo area is ideal for us and seems to be our best chance of winning at the price we're looking for, I'll continue to bid in the $120-$135 price range in the next few days and see if anything hits. I went up to $140 today (adding non 4* hotel zones as I upped my bid) and was rejected. I have a points reservation as a back-up, so I can be patient.
thereuare Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Keep in mind that the Downtown zone includes a much larger area then just Soho, and odds favor that you'll likely end up somewhere closer to the Financial District or Battery Park than in Soho. Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding and travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
