DCDaveJ Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I'm traveling to NYC for a Broadway show the night of 6/9. I'm looking for 3* or better and would hope to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $150. My son and I are arriving at Penn Station and the show is the Times Square area so any of the following Priceline areas would work:Time Square/Theatre DistrictMidtown EastMidtown WestCPSMSGCan you suggest a bidding strategy? Also, is there any way to ensure we'll get a room with two double beds? Many thanks!
AaronJB Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Good morning. :)PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy. While one can request two beds from the hotel, NYC is especially risky - possibly the most risky of the US major cities - in this regard, as there are far fewer double rooms in NYC than single bed rooms, and when available, they almost always go for a premium over a room w/1 bed. I'd suggest using HOTWIRE for these dates and searching for 3 people (2 adults/1 child, for example) to ensure more than one bed, but rates are VERY high on this particular date. Likely something going on, as the service is 4*'s at $300+ (3.5*'s at around $225-250+), and that is when searching for 2 - when searching for 3 people in the room, rates are often more expensive. Unfortunately, given the rates that I'm seeing, I think $150 very well may not be enough for a 4* on these dates via PRICELINE. If that is the case, you could either choose to look into lower star ratings or consider pushing higher than the desired $150 for a 4*.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
