Icelight Posted May 23, 2010 Author Report Posted May 23, 2010 Ah, yes, it was. Sorry for not specifying that.Unfortunately, it seems as though that Hotel is no longer offered. If you had an idea as to what it may be, by all means still post it, maybe a deal with the same "specs" will pop up again!Below is an alternative choice, any help identifying this one would be greatly appreciated :)2 1/2 * Hotel$59.00June 6th to June 9thDowntown Toronto East Area (0.5 to 1.7 miles from the University of Toronto)Smoke FreeRestaurantsHigh-Speed Internet AccessRecommended in 60% of user reviews (3.5 overall satisfaction), with 100+ reviews
thereuare Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Unfortunately this 2.5* property has not yet been reported to the board. What is your budget for this stay? Do you have any particular needs or is this for general 'tourist' in the area? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Icelight Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 Well, I'm trying to keep things under $100 (stretched to $110 in the worst case) per night. My only needs are firm dates and being within reasonable walking distance to the University.
thereuare Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Icelight Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 After reading through that topic I'll have to say that is not something I would be willing to do.Switching Hotels during the day would likely not be possible during my stay, so because of the potential for that occurring I'd have to decline that route.Oh, but in terms of Hotel *, I don't need a 3 1/2* Hotel, I'd be willing to go lower :)
thereuare Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 My only needs... being within reasonable walking distance to the University. Are you able to stay anywhere within the shaded boundary of PRICELINE's Toronto North zone? (ie- would this get you close enough to the University)Another option, just a little but more than your budget, is the Delta Chelsea which appears to be just a few blocks from the University, is available for $118/nite and fully refundable up until the day before arrival (of course you should always double check the cancellation policy yourself) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.EDIT to ADD: Expedia has this hotel for $118/nite also, using coupon code 10SPRING takes $10/nite off, bringing your cost inline with your $110 maximum budget. Would you want to go with this offering or try PRICELINE (if you're able to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone). If you reserve this as your hotel, or even as a cancellable back-up, please use the board's Expedia link. Icelight Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 Thank you very much for the heads up on the Delta Chelsea. I will certainly use the board's Expedia link if I decide to book it as a backup. As for the Toronto Downtown North area, yes, everything looks like it should be within 2 - 2.5km from the University, so distance should not be an issue.
thereuare Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 So knowing that you have the Delta at $108 as a back-up, what star rating and maximum bid do you want to try for on PRICELINE?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Icelight Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 Well, I don't have any experience with them yet, but I figured I'd try lowballing a 3* hotel and see where it gets me. Although I'm not entirely sure what a low-ish bid would be :)
thereuare Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Given the alternative of the Chelsea at $108, what would be your maximum bid at the 3* level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Icelight Posted May 27, 2010 Author Report Posted May 27, 2010 After thinking about it a bit I figure $90 would be my maximum bid for a 3* hotel.A $20 premium (that is, up to $110) seems "fair" to be guaranteed a specific Hotel at a specific location (that is, the Delta Chelsea).
thereuare Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 When bidding for a 3* hotel in the Toronto region you have ONE re-bid zone.
