travellingjme Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 I am new to PRICELINE, but I have heard many friends say nothing but great things about the site.My mom and I are travelling to NYC from Boston for the weekend of 6/25 - 6/27 to go to a Broadway Show, and do touristy things. We are looking to stay in an area convenient to the theater, which is at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at 50 Lincoln Center Plaza. We currently have reservations at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan for $199 /night. I am only looking on Priceline to see if we can get a 4* Hotel for a better or equivalent rate. Can someone please suggest a strategy, or let me know if the chances of this is slim? I am not sure where to start my bidding, or what I should expect to pay?Thank you,JE
thereuare Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm assuming you booked the Fitzpatrick awhile ago as current rates at their site start at $299/nite. Given the increase in rates since you booked (not just at this hotel but likely around the city too) i don't think at the moment you're going to be able to do better than your $199 rate for a 4* hotel.. and as the Fitzpatrick is a well reviewed property i would be trying to save some money ffrom this rate, not just match it by a little (the savings would need to be worth the 'unknown' aspect of a PRICELINE purchase)We can suggest a strategy for you to try if you'd like, but at the moment i don't think you're going to be able to do better... although i would take another look inside of 2 weeks before your stay to see if inventory has gotten cheaper at all.Let us know if/how you'd like to proceed. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
