i'm interested in specifically bidding for a hotel in the midtown east section of NYC that is 4 stars only. I am trying to figure out if there is a way for me place more then one bid a day. But still only end up with a hotel in the section I want at the star level I want. Any recommendations?

If you are looking for a back-up property in the meantime, the well-reviewed 4* Kimberly Hotel in MTE is on sale for $250 via Expedia.com and appears to be refundable (although I'd recommend double checking the fine print.)

Please use the site's Expedia.com link if this idea is of interest.

At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 4* MTE...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

It may be due to the time before your stay, in conjunction with this being an expensive time of year in NYC.

Given this is historically a busy time in NYC, hotels might not want to discount rooms too heavily this far ahead of the stay, hoping that business is indeed strong, allowing them to sell rooms on their own at full price. Nobody can say at this time if demand for these dates will be stronger/weaker than expected, but at least for the moment, hotels aren't willing to discount too heavily.

For more on this subject see the "bid early or late" link in our PRICELINE FAQ.

One more thing to add after reviewing your thread above... you're only bidding on one zone, so not giving too many hotels the opportunity to accept your price.
