based on the Hotel List (that I didn't use) -- It would appear that this is the Hilton although I'm surprised that it could possibly be recommended 85% of the time

Thanks Yellowdog -- Appreciate it. I've recently seen both courtyard marriott and hilton pittsburgh going for $55-65 through PRICELINE.com (name your price) so if that's the case, I'd rather take my chances naming my price since I'd save $40-$50 and the upside is that I might actually get the courtyard which is really the hotel I want. If I use PRICELINE, I will use your link and will update the forum with my final price. Thanks again for your help and this website in general. It is a great tool.

Risk is too high of getting Hilton which has some horrendous reviews. Will not use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE for this * level

You may want to consider HOTWIRE at a different star level if you're able to identify and still less than booking a hotel thru non-opaque sources. If you do decide to book direct, please take a look at and use the links in our support page if possible/available.

When I'm searching HOTWIRE deals and put in 2 adults, it presents a hotel which I believe I have narrowed down to the one I want. If I change to 2 adults and 2 children (my actual party), that hotel option disappears. Question being, if I book through Hotwire with the 2 adults and no mention of child, will they care when I show up with my 2 children? The hotel in question is the Pittsburgh Renaissance (Marriott)

Unfortunately we don't currently have a link to Marriott branded hotels.

In regards to your question above, HOTWIRE guarantees accommodations for everyone you include in your search... so if you only book for double occupancy, there is a chance that you are assigned a room with only one bed, and the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to switch you to a room with two beds (or there could be an additional fee)

I don't know the rates you're seeing thru HOTWIRE or direct, but you may want to also check to see if the hotel you want is offered on HOTWIRE when searching for 2 rooms, which can sometimes be cheaper than booking one direct.

One thing I'd like to add -- I was given a SMOKING room -- the hotel was booked solid and could not move me until the 2nd night of my stay. Just thought I'd put that out there for anyone considering staying at this hotel and booking through HOTWIRE.
