thepeanut
*sighs*Sometimes I think that it's just Priceline that doesn't like me.I am trying to book a room in New Buffalo, Michigan. My dates are June 11 - June 16, 2010.All the past winners from this area have posted the result of the New Buffalo Fairfield Inn and Suites for $33/night (and those winnings were from May 2009 to March 2010).I was rejected.Guess I will just need to try again tomorrow. thereuare
Hotel direct rates at the Fairfield Inn start at $110/nite for your dates above... making your bid a 70% discount to a conventionally booked room, which is not a high probability bet. What is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thepeanut
Thanks for changing my title...duh wasn't thinking.Well, I was just bidding what all the past bidders bid for that hotel/area and won. *shrugs* Honestly, I have no idea what the going rate for that hotel was for those people. Just thought I would give it a try.My maximum bid will be $50. Link to comment
thereuare
Since you have a little time we'll break this into two days:When bidding this area you have TWO re-bid zones available at the 2* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 2* New Buffalo...Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $38, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2* New Buffalo and re-bid zone2...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $43If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and re-try (using the PRICELINE link on the board, not a link in any emails PRICELINE may send to you indicating that you may be eligible to bid again)Select 2* New Buffalo...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $48, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2* New Buffalo and re-bid zone2...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $53You can stop at $50 if you'd like, but i went a little higher as think you'll likely make it that far, and that you're likely looking at something in the $60's/$70's than in the $50's. Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. nick5
With part of your stay being the weekend and the casino so near by, might be the reason the low rate did not work. Hard to say, but if you would consider staying in more than one place, perhaps you can snag the low 33.00 a night for Sunday, Monday and Tues. Michigan City is nearby for the other two nights. thepeanut
My update (May 20th)I tried a bid of $35 last night and failed. Then added 1* hotel to my choice and was still rejected.I won't be taking the chance with the re-bid of the zones. This is the only area in which I would like to stay in and just feel it too risky to add an area in which I have no desire to stay in. For some reason, I think that's what I had done when I booked my trip in October 2009 and wanted to stay in downtown Pittsburgh, but ended up out by the airport because I added a zone. Thanks for the suggestion Cheryl, but I will be traveling alone and would prefer to stay in once place for my entire trip. :)I also must admit that I'm unsure of Michigan City. This forum shows now winners from that area and I'm not really sure what hotels are offered. I have also been told it's not the safest are, but I could be wrong.Well, it looks like I am just going to up my bid tonight and see if I can't get it for $38.Thanks again for the help! nick5
New Buffalo is a much much much nicer area to stay in. The downtown area is quaint and since you might be in the area for a while, you could travel and branch out doing other things in the surrounding area. So, IF you could handle two places, bid the New Buffalo 2* for 33 a night and then perhaps book Michigan City Microtel Inn for the weekend at 63.00 a night. It is 13 minutes away. By hitting up 33 a night for 3 nights and the 63 for two nights, you are still in your 50.00 budget. Microtel Inn and Suites Michigan City9834 W 400 N.Michigan City, IN 46360 US Link to comment

UAL123
I was the one who posted the Fairfield Inn back in March. The going rate was only $69/night on Marriott's website. Link to comment
