logic11 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I've been trying Las Vegas strip north 5 and 4 stars and my last bid was $96 and Priceline refused it.I was afraid of including Strip North vicinity and getting Trump. Is Trump that bad ? Why doesn't anybody want to stay there. Is it far from the strip ?My dates are June 3 to June 6 and it seems like the city is quite crowded that time.Which others regions do you suggest I should add ?thanks a lot
AaronJB Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 People generally try to avoid the Trump because it doesn't have a casino. Otherwise, it does get good reviews. Strip North, South Strip are the most popular. Please provide your desired budget per night.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
logic11 Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 Thanks for your advice AaronJB.I'd bid $100 if I knew I'd get a 5* either on north or south strip.I just wouldn't like to bid $ 100 and get Luxor (4* south strip) but I'd gladly accept 4* hotels on the north strip.Should I bid $100 for 5* north, south and north vicinity ?I don't mind not having a casino.Any other suggestions ?thanks!!
thereuare Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Should I bid $100 for 5* north, south and north vicinity ?I think $100 is going to be a bit of a reach (keep in mind the Trump also charged a resort fee, ~$15/nite), but not totally out of the question, so we can give a try, but to clarify...Your previous failed bids at $96 was only for the North Strip zone... and didn't include South Strip or North Strip Vicinity?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. logic11 Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 Thanks!!I've just tried $100 today for 4 and 5* north strip and north vicinity. Priceline refused and suggested $150 (that's too much for me, because there are also taxes over such price)I'd stay in south strip. The problem is that if I bid $100 for 4 stars hotel in south strip I'll get Luxor (I cant get it for under $ 100 out of Priceline). All suggestions are more than welcome!
yellowdog Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 logic11Do you feel $100 is you max for the North zone? Sometimes can you undercut the PRICELINE offer.Have you looked at HOTWIRE if they have anything in the south zone for your dates? How much is your max budgett/night ex tax/fee?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
logic11 Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 Thanks YellowdogWhat do you mean by "Sometimes can you undercut the PRICELINE offer." ?I'd spend up to $140 (taxes and fees included) for a 5* and $100 (taxes and fees included) for a 4*.Thanks once again for the help
yellowdog Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 What do you mean by "Sometimes can you undercut the PRICELINE offer." ?The conunter offer indicates that PRICELINE got inventory. And sometimes can you undercut the offer with bidding lower than the suggested price from PRICELINE.Let us know how we can help you further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.

logic11 Posted May 20, 2010 Author Report Posted May 20, 2010 I gave up and booked the hotel through the webpage.I decided to book Mirage from june 3 to 4, but it is a package with Cirque du Soleil Love show included (this is the reason I'm going to Vegas).Since the cheapest tickets are around $ 110 I thought it was worth it.Package (2 nights & 2 good tickets) $ 368 + tax + resort fee.Now I need a room from Sat to Sun (June 5 to 6)Thanks a lot for the help.I might try PRICELINE or HOTWIRE and I'll sure use the links from this site
thereuare Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Please note in our support page that we are an affiliate of the Mirage as well as all the other MGM owned properties. logic11 Posted May 21, 2010 Author Report Posted May 21, 2010 Thanks thereuareIt was not possible to book this Mirage package through the website, I had to call them in order to get it.The problem now is this one night (sat to sun) June 5 to June 6.How much do you think I could bet to get a 4* (on the strip, either north or south) ?thanks!!
thereuare Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 The Westin is in PRICELINE's Strip zone but located slightly off the strip... would this be an acceptable outcome? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. logic11 Posted May 21, 2010 Author Report Posted May 21, 2010 thanks!!Yes, if it's a good hotel Westin would be acceptable. How could I bid to get it ? How much do you think I should bid ?
thereuare Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 I don't know if you will get the Westin or not, nor is there a way to bid for this particular property, but we first needed to know if this was an acceptable property to know if bidding on PRICELINE's South Strip zone was an option. The Trump is also cheap on a relative basis, would this be acceptable for this one nite? (remember this property has a resort fee too of ~$15/nite) What is your maximum bid for this nite of your stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. logic11 Posted May 22, 2010 Author Report Posted May 22, 2010 Thanks Thereuare.I was thinking around $100 for the night of 06/05 > 06/06.
thereuare Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 I'm not sure how realistic that is going to be for a 4* hotel on the strip on this Saturday nite.If you want to give it a try anyway, at the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* North Strip and South Strip...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
