cancerman Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Hi,2 traveling partners and I will be arriving in Niagara Falls, ON, on 12th June at the Greyhound Terminal (L2E7G9) and we will be spending 1 night here. The following areas under Priceline offer:- Niagara Falls (NF) : up to 4*- North NF : up to 2*- west NF : up to 2*- St Catharines : up to 3*- Welland : up to 3*Can anyone suggest the bidding strategy for a 3* hotel around NF area? Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages.Next, are you looking for one room for triple occupancy? If so, note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. You can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, but there is no guarantee the hotel will be able, or willing, to accommodate your request. (or there could be an additional charge involved)Are you willing to risk receiving a room with only one bed? If not, HOTWIRE may be a better option as they will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly (if still going the PRICELINE route, let us know your maximum bid for this stay)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cancerman Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 Dear thereuare,Originally, the plan was to book a room with 2 singles, and the third person would sleep in a sleeping bag. The problem is a bit tricky, as our group consists of 2 guys and 1 lady. Now, I am open to any options so long as we have a decent place to sleep on 12 June. We are traveling students, so we like to keep our cost low. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Originally, the plan was to book a room with 2 singles, and the third person would sleep in a sleeping bag.Is this still the plan... or would this no longer work for your group? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cancerman Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 Hi there,It would be lovely if we can get 1 room with 3 singles, if not, we are fine with 1 room with 2 singles (and one of us do the sleeping bag).
thereuare Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Sorry, also forgot to ask your maximum bid... we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy which goes higher than you're willing to spend.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- you're not likely going to get a room with 3 beds. The best you can probably hope for is 2 beds and a pullout sofabed, but i wouldn't count on this... most likely 'best case scenario' is a room with two beds... a room with only one bed is possible as well. cancerman Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 HiBased on Hotwire, the following are available on 12 June:1. 2*- $62 per room per night- No details are offered- "Recommended by 40% of customer reviews2. 2.5*- $99- Fitness Centre- Pool- Restaurant- Golf nearby- "We are still gathering reviews for this property"Are these prices reasonable? Perhaps it would be good to keep the cost to about 30-35 per pax (ie 90-105) after tax? Wonder if this is achievable?I think we should be ok if we get 2 singles + 1 sofabed, afterall all we need is a place to rest for the night.Should I return to priceline and bid again?
cancerman Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 HiAs we might have quite a bit of luggage, I think it would be good for us to find an accomodation around the Greyhound terminal (L2E7G9), which probably narrows the choices down to Niagara Falls main area.
thereuare Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 ...we are fine with 1 room with 2 singles (and one of us do the sleeping bag). Are you also fine with a room with only one bed?Perhaps it would be good to keep the cost to about 30-35 per pax (ie 90-105) after tax?[-/quote]What is this in terms of bid amount (before taxes and fees)? You can go to PRICELINE and enter the zone you would like and let's say an $80 bid... on the next screen you'll see what the total would be if your bid is accepted. You can then use the BACK button on your browser and increase the bid amount up/down to determine what bid amount would land you at your maximum budget for this stay. (all this is done BEFORE entering your credit card info so shouldn't be any concern about accidentally placing a bid at this point)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cancerman Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 Hi there,I tried my luck on PRICELINE earlier and ended up with a $80 usd bid for a 2* hotel (USD100 after tax).It turned out to be Quality Hotel and Conference Centre. The rate is the same as that been shown on its website though.Looks like we could request for 2 Queen-sized beds, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for now. Thanks anyway.
yellowdog Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 cancermanCongratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) Good luck with the beds!Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog.
