nikkilou Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 My husband & I are travelling to Chicago 6/24-6/29 and looking for a 4* + in Chicago downtown area. Some of the posts I've been reading through seem like there is a way to "guess" which hotel you'll end up with based on price and location. Is there any way to know this, or to bid an amount that will help get one hotel over another? Any help would be appreciated, having never done anything like this for previous travel. Thanks in advance!
AaronJB Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to know which hotels may appear when bidding on PRICELINE - if one were to bid for a 4* in the River North/NMA area, for example, one could possibly get any of the participating 4*'s in that zone. If one tried to bid higher in order to get a different hotel, it could very possibly lead to overbidding for the hotel they would have gotten anyways had they bid less. With HOTWIRE, one can make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing based upon the information given. Neither service offers 5* properties in Chicago. Please provide your desired budget per night and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
nikkilou Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 Hi, thanks for the reply. Our budget is in the $75 - $100 range, and trying for the North Michigan/River North area.
nikkilou Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 Hotwire has a 4* MMA for $115 90% recommended. Smoke free, fitness center, restaurant, business center and high speed access. Any guess as to what hotel it might be?
AaronJB Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 I see a listing with those amenities in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area - is that the same one you are looking at?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AaronJB Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 That has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. I do see a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating towards the bottom of the detail page for the listing (click "continue" on the listing to go to the detail page.) While this could be something else, I'd guess that this MAY be the Westin River North with a new smoke-free icon. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
