nd24470 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hello --I have beeen trying (unsuccessfully) to bid on a hotel in CPS, dates 6/10-6/15. I'd like a 3.5*. I've tried $110, $120, $130, and today $140. No luck.I'm aiming for to replicate another bid I saw on the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins -- winning bid was $140 for the Hudson Hotel, 3.5*, CPS, dates 6/5-6/9.I want to be as close to the park as possible, and I'm assuming that CPS is cheaper than the Upper West Side or the Upper East Side, correct?Should I bid $150? Should I wait? How long? Any other advice?Thank you so much!!!
thereuare Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Rates for Spring dates have really climber over the last few weeks... perhaps if the current stock market conditions they'll come back down a bit.Rather than guess which zone would be cheaper, why not include all acceptable zones and allow the one with the least expensive bid to be the first to accept your bid? What is your maximum bid for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nd24470 Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 Thank you! Too bad about prices going up.I was hoping to stay under $150. I'll keep CPS, and add Upper East and West Sides to my search.I was originally set on staying near the park since I'll be travelling with my 6-year old, but I guess I could extend my search to Midtown and Chelsea/Gramercy. I don't want to be further than that though. Basically I would rather stay in a 3.5* in Midtown than in a 2* near the park. Not sure if that's at all helpful since I feel like I'm all over the place, but if you have any other tips I would love to hear them. I have never used PRICELINE, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

nd24470 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Yes, I have been to NY many times and am very familiar with the areas. My goal was to stay as close to the park as possible.
thereuare Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Do you first want to bid up to your limit for just the CPS, UES and UWS zones... or do you want to include any midtown zone(s) in your initial attempts? If the latter, exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, do you want t include?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nd24470 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 I will try to bid on Central Park South, Upper West Side, Upper East Side. Those are my first choice areas. If I don't get any of those at $150 or less I'll bid on Midtown West, Midtown East and Times Square. Thanks.
thereuare Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* CPS...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* UWS...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* UES...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS and UWS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS and UES...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS and UWS and UES...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125I expect to be the above to be rejected, but with time on your side would start with these lowball offers, so don't get discouraged if the above fails, but... just post back and we'll revise to try again up to your $150 limit in 24 hours. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
