Looking for hotel 7/2 & 7/3. Used priceline years ago for mag mile I think. Want to be within taxi or train to Wrigley if we can. Used to name brand high rises like Westin or Sheraton. What area should I select for priceline map? And once area known what price range is average? (sorry put this on hotwire forum by mistake 1st)

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can start by going to MAPS and HOTELS.com and entering "wrigley field, chicago" and you can see where all the hotels are in relation to the stadium. My guess is that you're going to want to stay more "downtown" than by the stadium as you can then simply take the train to the game (and be more centrally located for other things you intend to do in the city)

I'm guessing that you're going to want to stay in the NMA-River North zone (with a second choice, based upon budget and availability for your dates, of the Loop zone); however, i'm sure AaronJB will reply to this thread as soon as he sees it and answer your question(s) more specifically. In the meantime, what is your target budget (per nite before fees and taxes) for this stay?

The Lincoln Park zone would technically be closest to Wrigley, but there are VERY few hotels in that zone - mainly a Best Western and a Days Inn. Additionally, given the lack of hotels in this zone, discounts don't seem to be as heavy as hotels downtown. The best choice would be to stay in the River North/NMA zone, but if you were to stay in the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park zone, you would still have easy access to a Red Line station - you would take the Red Line Northbound in the case of either zone to head to Wrigley, which is just a couple of blocks from the Addison Red Line stop. Definitely don't take a taxi to the game.

I'd recommend leaving for the game a little early to get ahead of the crowds - there's a lot of stores and restaurants in the nearby area to browse around while you wait for the game. Afterwards, you may want to wait a little while as well until the crowds thin out to take the train back.

What would be your desired max budget per night?

great info. budget really isnt a concern. want a 4* if possible in area with walking to restaraunts/bars. red line to wrigley sounds great as we definitely want to hang out over there and not have to drive. Could we get 4* and red line from River North/NMA Zone or would Millenium Park be better? any bid suggestions for 7/2?

In terms of restaurants/nightlife nearby, that takes away the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area, as parts of that zone can be VERY quiet at night.

When searching on HOTWIRE, I'm seeing a 4* in the NMA-Water Tower-Gold Coast area for $129 when searching for 7/2-4 w/boutique, fitness, business, restaurant, internet. This would be a possible match for the Raffaello or Sutton Place. If Sutton Place, that would be in the Gold Coast area, which has easy access to Michigan Ave, nightlife, lots of restaurants and a nearby Red Line stop.

In terms of bidding for 7/2-4 in the River North/NMA area on PRICELINE, you could try for a 4* bid starting at $80 and see if any hotels bite at that offer. If you were to bid on a 4* hotel via PRICELINE and win, the possible 4*'s range from a couple of minutes walk from a Red Line station to about a 15 minute walk (although a very nice 15 minute walk.) So, none of the hotels are far from a station.
