Great website! I am glad I stumbled across it!!!

Trying to get a room at a 3* in the Copley Square area of Boston on Priceline. Followed the methodology and submitted 6 requests. Increased by bids in increments of $5 starting at $60.00....no dice. Used the $60 starting point based on what I saw on the Calendar of wins.

Looking to specifically stay at the Sheraton...but would be OK with the Hilton or Mariott. want to try to keep the two nights right around $200.00 all in at one of these hotels.

Any suggestions? :)

...at one of these hotels.
Keep in mind that you can't bid specifically on any group of hotels, but you're bidding on any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose. While these may be the hotels reported to the board, there could be others, and you could be the first to report a new hotel to the board (or hotel to the board which has been upgraded/downgraded since last reported)

Also, you're topic title mentions 3.5*/4* as your desired star rating, but your post states that you bid for a 3* hotel... can you please confirm what you're seeking as well as what star level you had just bid.

We would love to stay right around $100 per night including taxes.
What is this in bid terms... before taxes and fees?

Thanks.

I understand that we might not get one of those three hotels in my initial post. It is the risk we take booking through Priceline. My error in saying 3*...we really only want 3.5* or higher.

I would like to be right around $100 per night including taxes and fees. My guess is that translates to around $80-$85 in bid terms.

So if my math is correct you've already bid up to $85 for a 3.5* hotel in this zone, correct?

If that's the case there isn't much you can do other than:

-increase your bid

-lower your star rating

-add other nearby zones

-wait it out and try again hoping for lower prices in the weeks to come

Based upon current rates, i'm guessing your porbably looking at ~$120+ or so.

Let us know your thoughts based upon your options above and we'll take it from there (SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is another option, but not typically ideal on a 2 nite stay)

Thanks.

I added another zone to try and get another shot. Went with Waterfront which has both 4* and 3.5*. That area is out of the way and we will need to take a cab to where we are going...my hope was that this time it would work and I would get that Copley hotel that we wanted.

I also lowered my bid thinking that if a 4*/3.5* did accept and we were locked in, I would at least save some $$$.

Guess what....of course my bid was accepted by a 4* in that Waterfront zone....the Renaissance Boston (Mariott) for $70.00 per night. Not a bad deal seeing that this property is $199 per night on the retail site.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear that the location wasn't what you were hoping for, but certainly a nice deal for this Renaissance property.
