Hotwire Hotel: Visiting NYC - Need Pointers

Looking to Stay July 1-4th

2 adults / 2 kids

Looking for something convenient where we can go in and visit the sites in NYC. Seems like Jersey City or Seacaucus would be quite a bit cheaper. We will have a car so parking in NYC would be too costly with the hotel as well.

Any pointers on where to start?

My budget is open but I am looking for the best bang for the buck so we can spend more $$$ in the city.

The Jersey City waterfront area is the most convenient to NYC and provides the best overall experience imo. However, it will cost you more than staying in Secaucus, and parking in Secaucus would be free vs. paid parking in Jersey City. Jersey City provides commuting via PATH train whereas Secaucus is by bus.

Ultimately it comes down to budget vs. convenience.

Also, assuming you're only looking for one room, you'll need to consider that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, where you'll actually be four. If you're not willing to take the chance of a room with only one bed, HOTWIRE would allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure bedding for everyone you include in your search.

I guess I will take a look at both costs. It hotel + parking in jersey city is close to the price of staying in the city, I guess I should explore that. Either way I am excited to start using your board.

You can search the city too, but if you're searching for quad occupancy in NYC the selections usually become slimmer and the prices become greater... in Jersey City it's easier to get a room for quad occupancy without too much of a spike in rates.
