flannbarr Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 Looking at going to Louisville over Memorial Day weekend. I usually stay at Marriott hotels or similar. Just wanted to confirm that I should bid on a 3.5* hotel in downtown for my best chance.
flannbarr Posted May 13, 2010 Author Report Posted May 13, 2010 $66 for 4* Downtown Louisville 5/29/10-5/31/10Amenities: No Smoking, Sirport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, SpaSeems like Galt House. Any other possibility?
thereuare Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The HOTWIRE property above is a match for the Galt House so that would be my best guess for this one.Did you want to go for this HOTWIRE offer or try bidding on PRICELINE? If the latter, what is your maximum bid for this stay? Do you prefer to pay more for a 4* hotel vs. a 3.5* OR are you seeking the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. flannbarr Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks for your comments. I would prefer a 4* hotel. The Galt House has had some not so great reviews lately. What do you think about it for $66?
thereuare Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I don't have any firsthand experience with this property, but the reviews don't seem too bad and you have to consider the price you're paying, as well as what you're looking for from this stay. I didn't fully read the reviews, but it appears for one of the recent negative reviews the guest didn't even stay there (they were 'walked' to another property... so yes that user has reason to provide a negative review, but you shouldn't necessary think that you would have a bad stay there based upon the rating they gave the hotel, as their "issue" wasn't with the stay, it was the hotel being overbooked and not being able to honor the reservation)With the above noted, this property is rated 3.5* by PRICELINE, so if you decide you want to try to avoid this property, you would need to raise your minimum star level to 4* (which would also mean a higher bid is needed vs. the $66 rate above)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts on how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. flannbarr Posted May 15, 2010 Author Report Posted May 15, 2010 The reviews of Galt House on Trip Advisor have consistently not been good. I prefer to stay at a Marriott or Westin or Hyatt. I guess I will have to look elsewhere.
