borntotravel Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 We're leaving on a cruise on Sunday, 3/20, and I've been trying for several weeks to get something close to the port. Finally got the Bahia Mar today for $105. I would always start with 4* downtown, then add beach, then add 3*. My original asking price was $90 and each time I'd go up $5. Since it's a Sat. night at Easter break time, I feel pretty lucky it finally worked.Barb
thereuare Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Congratulations on your winning bid. It's usually not recommened to raise your bid and lower your star rating at the same time (as i think you did), as it can very easily result in an overbid, as explained in this thread: If you lower your quality level, lower your price .Also, you didn't need to drop your star level so quickly, as you have plenty of PRICELINE REBID zones available at the 4* level.Feel free to ask for help before future bidding if your not familiar with or have questions about any of the topics referenced above.Enjoy your stay and subsequent cruise. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
borntotravel Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 Yes, you're right--that's what I did. Now I can see the illogic. Thanks! Someday I'll get the hang of this!Barb
