spyzilla Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 I was bidding on new orleans and it gave this option of west side. I was wondering if this area is in a good location. Is bidding recommended in this area? What are the hotels it entails.

SaintTaris Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 I grew up on the West Bank. The area is across the river from downtown New Orleans. Unless you are coming to New Orleans to visit someone that lives on the West Bank, you are better off staying downtown.
mbstone Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 We are visiting the West Bank on business. Although YMMV, the neighborhoods I have visited appear to be safe. The hotel properties here generally offer free parking (which is maybe $30 extra in downtown or in the French Quarter). However, the properties here are significantly more expensive than in New Orleans, even if you count the cost of parking. We are surprised that there are so few hotels and motels in the West Bank area, both on PL and in general. On the other hand, we are equally surprised at the ample supply of inexpensive PL rooms in the French Quarter, as well as the general lack of crowds and traffic.
