Bizou Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Hello all,Im new to this forum and would like to ask for help with priceline. In September my boyfriend and I will celebrate my birthday by going toNYC. We want to stay in a nice hotel and are willing to bid the maximum off 220 USD a night. We would like to have a 3,5 or 4 starr hotel. The areas where we would prefer to stay are Midtown West, Times Square, Madison Garden or the Empire State Building area.Do you guys think it's possible to get a good hotel in the period off 09-07 till 09/12/2012 for this price? Thank you for helping a first timer!!
thereuare Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Regarding you're budget, you're likely in the right ballpark, but we'll have to wait until you bid to see if this will actually be enough for these dates.Did you want to try for a 4* hotel first up to your limit OR are you seeking the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Are you ready to bid and commit to a non-refundable reservation 4 months ahead of your stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.PS- please click this PRICELINE link before replying. Bizou Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 Thank you for your quick response. We are from the Netherlands and its the first time we visit New York andit will be the first time using www.PRICELINE.com. Reading on this forum and at other sites, I think it would bebetter to bid closer to the departing date. You agree?220 USD is the max we wan't to spend per night. At this link I found out that the biddings in late August areway better in price, than bidding right now. Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of WinsI didnt actually bid yet, because I think I would pay too much right now.Let me know whats your advice. Thank you!
thereuare Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 I think it would be better to bid closer to the departing date. You agree? Not necessarily... current pricing is based upon how full hotels project they'll be for these dates. If business is slow than they expect, you'll likely see rates come down in price... if business comes in stronger than they expect, you can see rates move higher from here. For more on this subject see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know once you're ready to bid and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
