Using either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE can you select the bed type, ie 2 queen beds or king size?

There is no way to select bed type with PRICELINE, and the service only guarantees double occupancy/2 beds. With HOTWIRE, you can search for up to 4 people in the room, which will guarantee some form of bedding (generally 2 beds, but may be 1 + sofa or other combination.) Some HOTWIRE listings will occasionally appear with "bed choice" which will allow the user to select bedding options.
