Priceline Hotel: 3* Charleston (Mt Pleasant-Isle of Palms) Holiday Inn

Hi there,

Hoping to get some help using PRICELINE to get a hotel in Charleston Historic District. Checking in on Friday, May 21 for 1 nite. 2.5* and up - was hoping to keep it at the $100 - $150 level.

Is it better to book now or wait until the day before? Also, what would be a good starting bid?

Please start by reading your messages.

As far as when to bid see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. However, i'll point out that rates are fairly high for this nite, and with no re-bid zones available at the 2.5* level, i would recommend starting sooner rather than later.

Lastly, to clarify, PRICELINE doesn't have a "Historic District"... do you mean the Downtown Charleston zone?

I would start with your first bid for a 2.5* property at $90.

If that is rejected, do you want to try the Ashley River area as well OR just keep trying for a Downtown property for this stay?

Thanks for your reply!! I placed the $90 downtown bid using the PRICELINE link from the site and it was rejected. =( I guess I wouldn't mind the Ashley River location as well but probably in a 3 star minimum. Just want to be in a safe location.

Since you're bidding different star levels it's not going to help you get additional bidding opportunities per each bidding cycle (which is what i was trying to accomplish by including the Ashley River zone), but if you are interested in this zone as well, you can try for a 3* in the Ashely River zone at $90 as well.

Assuming that is rejected, you can try every 24 hours:

Select 2.5* Downtown, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Ashley River

Increase each bid by $10 over the previous days failed bids.

I tried a $90 bid for a 3* in Ashley River and it was rejected. I had my little matrix drawn out with the zones and star ratings and saw that the South University area and also the West Charleston - Savannah Highway areas on have 1*, 2* and 2.5* hotels so I used your PRICELINE link to rebid:

$100 - 3* Ashley River, South University -- rejected

$110 - 3* Ashley River, South University, West Charleston - Savannah Highway -- rejected

Will give the 2.5* Downtown another go this afternoon! Having a lot of fun with this!!

Then I found out that there is a concert at Isle of Palms on this night, so could also look at rooms there!! Sorry in advance!! Would prefer to stay at Isle of Palms over Mount Pleasant though. Saw on HOTWIRE that there is 3* for $119 and a 2.5* for $129 - both at Isle of Palms. PRICELINE has The Palms ( 2.5* ) for $229 - what would you recommend for a starting bid for this area??

"Mount Pleasant - Isle of Palms" is one zone on PRICELINE so you won't be able to target one area of the zone over another... are you willing to accept a hotel anywhwere in the zone?

What is your minimum star rating and maximum bid for this zone? Are you still willing to accept a hotel in the Downtown and/or Ashley River zones?

I would be ok with any hotels in the Mount Pleasant - Isle of Palms zone - probably 3* or 2.5* - just looking to stay around or under $100 - as we will hardly be spending any time there! Was thinking I could probably get in 5 bids in the 3* by adding in Downtown, Ashley River and the 2 re-bid zones. Start at $70?? Hoping to get the 3* Marriott that is listed for $179 but won't hold my breath!!

Hi!

Just won a nite at the 3* Mount Pleasant Holiday Inn for $90 on PRICELINE!

Bids were:

$70 3* Mount Pleasant - rejected

$80 3* Mount Pleasant + rebid zone - rejected

$90 3* Mount Pleasant + rebid zone - accepted!

Should have probably used $5 increments instead but am happy to have a room booked! The Holiday Inn site has this room listed for $180.
