Priceline Hotel: philadelphia hotel - help bidding

I have no experience bidding on either site. I am looking for a room in Philadephia for my son whose in between housing at College. Willow Grove or a Philly suburb that's accessible by Philly's rail system. Any guidance on the amount to bid would be appreciated. I would bid on a 3 - 3.5* Tuition's expensive these days! Thanks so much for the help. 5/21 - 5/23 are the dates

You can't "bid on a hotel accessible to the rail system". If you go to PRICELINE and look at the zones which make up this area, are there any zones in which you could accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone? If not, what about the zones via HOTWIRE?

What is your expected budget for this nite?

I would like to stay within the $50-$75 dollar range. I appreciate your suggestion regarding the zones. Thanks for your help.

I'm not local enough to this area to know which zones are more/less convenient to the train. Since your son lives in the area and will be the one doing the commuting, why not have him look at the zone(s) on both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE to determine which one(s) would be close enough for his needs and in which he would be able to accept a property anywhere within the zone?

Once you (and he) have determined which zones are acceptable we'll be able to help with a suggested bidding strategy.

As zones are renames and re-ordered, the numbers associated with them change... to avoid any confusion, please provide the zones, by PRICELINE name, that you're willing to bid.

Also, are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay?

The zones for Priceline are: 2/City Line; 3/Downtown Philadelphia; 8/University Area. Hotwire are: A.Old Towne Penn's Landing; B. Center City East; C Center City West; D University City.

I would like to keep it to a 3*.
