wingsbelieve84 Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 Oh, sure, thanks! They are 6/14 to 6/16
thereuare Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 My best guess for the 4* would be the Francis Marion, upgraded from the 3* level since it was last reported to the board (over a year ago)The 2* has not yet been identified. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. wingsbelieve84 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Posted May 11, 2010 Hi all,I'm trying to find a hotel in the Charleston Historic district for 6/14-6/16. On PRICELINE, the average retail price for 2.5* is $74 while the 2* is actually $79. What gives? This is substantially different from the 3*, which is $166. I tried a $60 bid for a 2.5* and was rejected. Most important thing for me is the historic district, would like to stay at either 3* or 2.5*. Just wondering why the 2* would actually be higher. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 As requested, please add the dates of your stay to your Hotiwre Savannah thread so that win can appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins... then reply to this thread and we'll comment on the above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. wingsbelieve84 Posted May 27, 2010 Author Report Posted May 27, 2010 Hi all,Please advise on this situation for PRICELINE. Downtown (historic) Charleson from 6/14-6/16 a 3 star is 130 dollars per night. A 2 star hotel averages at 90+ dollars per night where as a 2.5 star hotel is 86 dollars per night. My priority is to stay in the historic district, but I do not understand how to play with this as a 2.5 star averages less than 2 stars. Looking at the pinnned hotel lists, the 2.5star hotels in this area are pretty nice- however, checking their prices on kayak.com and other websites makes it seem very unlikely that these places will actually be 86 dollars per night (i know this is the "average" but prices are in the 130s to 150s for these hotels on kayak). How do you advise I proceed? Thanks! By the way, I updated my final HOTWIRE deal for Savannah on that thread.
thereuare Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll edit the topic title accordingly and move the thread to that section of the board. You should ignore PRICELINE's "average prices" as they're neither useful nor meaningful in your bid. If you want to try for a hotel in the Historic District, decide what star rating you'd like to try for first, research retail prices for properties at that star level in this zone, then determine a maximum bid based upon whatever discount you feel is worth the 'unknown' of an opaque booking.Let us know the star rating maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too.
