We stayed here April 2-7, 2010 (during Spring Break). The Virginian is a newly renovated, older hotel. This was a perfect solution to our need for space, kitchen, and easy DC access. We stayed in a studio which had a full (albeit small) kitchen, spacious bedroom/living room with small dining area, lots of windows for a light-filled room, a good sized closet and small bath. It was obvious this is an older building (especially from the outside), but the renovations helped update it. Just a short 10 minute walk to the Metro station (orange and blue lines), walk to Iwo Jima Memorial (with lovely views across the Potomac to see DC lit at night). Grocery store a 2 minute drive, all the other helpfuls (gas, Starbucks, etc) real close too. Staff was VERY accomodating with requests for extra hangers, pillow, etc. and helpful with directions and locations of nearby services. Laundry facility on first floor was clean and plenty of units. Best of all -- our rate was $79/nite (check their website for a variety of deals) because we stayed 5 nites. Free parking too (in DC usually $15-20/nite extra). This is not a luxury hotel, but if you're looking for the above and want a great value, this is it. Will definitely stay again.
