I wonder how much current exchange rates affect whether $40 is accepted?

Perhaps priceline rate is right on the cusp of $40/$41... and when exchange rates are favorable $40 is successful; but when exchange rates are less favorable $40 is rejected (while $41 would be accepted).

This booking is for my 250th Priceline room night since January 2003.

My average cost per night (inc. tax/sc) is $49.21 USD.

On average that's been about $100 USD per night less than Best Hotel Rate with Taxes.
