1st time poster here, & idk if it is in the right spot (mods plz move if needed)

I have a problem... i want to use Priceline to get a deal but when i want to book it says that it is required that the person checking in must be 21 & over. But i would assume that would only be because the price is in USD thus linking to the U.S.A.

My question is that can i book the hotel in CANADA, with me being Canadian without being 21 years old? As in just put in the checkin name into the boxes even though i am not 21?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I supsect that the 21 year old requirement is so there is a 'blanket statement' for US hotels where many rooms have access to alcohol in the minibar or are casino hotels where the hotels want to fill the rooms with those who are eligible to gamble. I don't know if all Canadian hotels have a 18 (or 19) year old minimum or if there are any which require you to be 21 years old (or older)... some hotels may impose a higher age limit than legally required from a safety perspective, want to ensure that their hotels don't become weekend party grounds for high school kids (or those who are young and might not have any credit/assets to cover any damage done to a room)

Ultimately i think it would be a risk (even if a small one) and if you want to play it on the safe side i would use HOTWIRE, where for each offering after clicking the CONTINUE button, at the bottom of the next page, in the "know before you go" section, it lists the minimum age for check-in.

Where in Canada are you looking to stay? What are your dates, desired star rating and budget?

What are the dates of your stay?

Are you willing to take the risk outlined above if using PRICELINE or do you want to go with a HOTWIRE property which lists "you must be 18/19 years old or older to check-in"?

i went ahead and booked it with the hotel anyways, just to be safe but now i know someone who wants to grab a room at the hyatt on king on the same night i am staying may 14 -may 15th

She is over 21 so that wont be an issue, could you help me get a room at the hyatt. Is the hyatt the only 4* hotel in downtown south?

Do you mean you booked the Hyatt direct with the hotel?

You can't bid on a specific hotel, and if you look at the Priceline Hotel List you can see that there are multiple 4* hotels in this zone. Is your friend willing to accept any 4* rated hotel in this zone?

Is your rate at the Hyatt cancellable?
