cabara
Hello,In checking some dates on Hotwire I came across a curious situation. For 3/19 to 3/24 for a three and a half star hotel in Jersey City, I searched using two adults and no children. The result was $73 a night. Then I changed it to two adults and 1 child (expecting the price to be higher). The price for that stay was $71 a night.Admittedly, $2 a night isn't that big of a deal. But if adding a child to the reservation means the price goes down, why not? Link to comment
cabara
Another curious thing is if I enter only one day, 3/19 to 3/20 (which is a Saturday), the price is $170 for two adults and one child but $154 for two adults and no children.I'm wondering why one day is more expensive and also why the price varies so much up and down when a child is added to the mix. thereuare
This hotel does not charge extra for more than 2 per room, and the price changes are typical for HOTWIRE as per this thread:Why Hotwire Prices Fluctuate Throughout the Day Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
cabara
Thanks for referring me to the info on time-of-day pricing. What was strange about this situation is that I did a Hotwire search for Jersey City. Then immediately after that price came up, I redid the search with the only change being that I added one child. I guess that could be another wrinkle in the opacity issue. It just struck me as weird. Link to comment
