rossldaniels Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Anybody know of anything huge going on in NY 6/22-6/28? I have started posting for 4* hotels at $140 and have been using free rebids to get up to $180. Still nothing accepted. Areas I want to stay in are MTW, MTE, Central Park South, Time Square, UTW, and UTE. I have added Brooklyn, Coney Island, and Chelsea for additional rebids and raised price in increments of $5. Am I bidding too early to get the best rates? I's appreciate any help people can provide. Thanks,Ross
rossldaniels Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Just got the Affinia Dumont 4* for $195 for 6 nights in Empire State Area. $25 a night more than I had hoped to pay, but I do not think it was a terrible deal either. Found out that there was a large convention in New York at that time that might be driving up prices as well. Anyone think I got terribly hosed. It is still $40 less a night than anything I was seeing on Hotwire or anywhere else for the same stars and same area. Way less than any refundable reservations I was willing to make. Well, you only have one 15th wedding anniversary. :) Ross
AaronJB Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Congratulations on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Happy early Anniversary! I think you got a good deal for a busy set of dates, and on top of that, you got one of the most well-reviewed properties in the city. For an anniversary, a smaller boutique property (like the Affinia) is a nicer choice than a giant, convention-oriented property (like the Grand Hyatt in MTE, for example.)Thank you for sharing your result with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
rossldaniels Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Thank you for the anniversary wishes and the comments on the hotel. That makes me feel much better. We are looking forward to it very much.Ross
ThatHappyGuy Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Congrats on getting this hotel. The Affinia Dumont is an excellent hotel with spacious rooms. I stayed there a couple of times and had great times. I would recommend upon checking in to request a high floor and if possible a corner room. The upgrade will run you about $25 per night, but the views are spectacular. You can check the pics out on their tripadvisor page here.Congrats on your 15th anniversary. :)
