SoILcoyote Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 26-29/05 (3 nights) $70 per night (or $83 after taxes)...After reading several dozens of reviews on this and other sites, not sure if this is truly a 4* hotel, with many mixed reviews about small rooms, thin walls...I've never stayed in a hotel downtown ORD, but as I will be there for touring museums, the location will probably be ideal...as long as it's clean and relatively quite at night it should be OK!Bidding process for 4*:began at $50 for MLGP-rejectedthen $60 to include NMA-rejectedthen $65 to include Lincoln park-rejectedthen $70 included all above AND Skokie-ACCEPTED...Thanks for the forum advice!
AaronJB Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Congratulations on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The Palmer is an extremely historic (this is one of the oldest continually operating hotels in the US) property that did undergo a renovation in the last couple of years. Still, given that this is a historic property, the rooms vary a lot but on the whole are going to be on the smaller side. The hotel lobby is extraordinary. As for the reviews, some aren't going to care for a historic property and others may not find their expectations were met for full price ($150-250+ at times), but one can say that for quite a few big city hotels at those kinds of prices. At $70, on the other hand, expectations may be different. For example, the cheapest rate on Expedia.com for the Palmer for these dates is just over $225. If you are in the city primarily to go to museums, this is a fine location.Thank you for sharing your result with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
