Little Time Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 New to the boards, fantastic service. Good for the hotels and us customers. Thank you. I bid using the link given here for Priceline.Have flight to Vegas, needing room on Monday Memorial Day evening 5/31, checking out Friday 6/4/2010.Trying to get a 5* north strip and would love to stay at the Venetian on the cheap. Hoping for a mid week deal. Bid up from $82 to $92 using various free bids.Gave up after 3 times getting a counter offer of $161. Seemed like too big a gap a month out. I see a number of other succesful bids on the board recently around there for mid week, so will try again in coming days. Will report.I do see 5* $79 South area hotel on Hotwire. From reading the boards it is probably the Aria or Vdara. If anyone has insight on trying for North strip Venetian versus enoying a cheaper, newer South strip hotel, I would be appreciative for the thoughts.
thereuare Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can usually under-cut PRICELINE counteroffer by using re-bid zones, as explained in this thread: Priceline Suggests Price to Pay... so the 'right' price likely lies between $93-$160, but agreed, a very wide gap.HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the Venetian or the Palazzo for $123/nite, and with HOTWIRE having a 5* hotel in the South Strip for $84, it basically comes down to what you really want for this trip and if staying in the North zone is worth an extra ~$40/nite.Have you been to Vegas before? Have you considered SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, with part of your stay in the South Strip zone and part in the North Strip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts on the above and we'll take it from there. Little Time Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 :) You are awesome thereuare!Great idea to split my bid!Trying to get some pricing indications for what to bid on PRICELINE.....found HOTWIRE had 5* north strip at $99 per night for two nights starting May 31 and actually dropped to $92 for the first three nights. All 4 nights $123. So....apparently it's Thursday that's the issue.Thinking it would be piggy to try re-bidding priceline when 5* $92 is available, I jumped on it.....Venetian! Thank you very much!I'll post what I do on the last night if I use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE (Of course I used your HOTWIRE link).I will also put my win on the HOTWIRE forum right now for others to use as info. Most grateful thanks!
Little Time Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 Amenities:Resort, Suite, Casino, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, HSI, Golf, Tennis, SpaVenetianTried 5* on PRICELINE for 4 nights (5/31-6/4) around this price and failed. Grateful thanks to thereuare for advice to consider splitting the trip. Was using HOTWIRE link to try to get indications for what to bid on PRICELINE, and the following came up. Starting 5/31:2 nights $993 nights $924 nights $123Obviously it was Thursday that was causing my PRICELINE bids to fail, and I grabbed the 3 nights at $92 as too good to pass up! Thanks!
