speedgraphic Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I only need ONE of the nights in the range of 5/11 to 5/13 booked... so whichever day is cheapest would be the best! I want to stay in the nicest place possible with a max of about $150, possibly $160 + fees. I got really excited about the 4* successes near this range that I've read about, but it looks like I'm booking too close to my arrival to get those great deals ($120 at the Millennium Hilton!!). I'm willing to stay anywhere in Manhattan. What should I expect to pay, bidding strategies, etc?
thereuare Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is the nite of 5/13 included in your date range as well or are just 5/11 or 5/12 acceptable?Your topic title mentions 3* or above but your post indicates you want the nicest hotel possible within your budget, so am i correct that you'd like to first bid for a 4* up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5*, then if rejected try for a 3* (vs. trying for the least expensive 3* or better hotel for this stay)Have you done any bidding yet? If so, please let us know the zones, star rating, and amounts of your failed bids.Lastly, just to confirm, anywhere within Manhattan is fine... Downtown is acceptable? UES and UWS side, both of which extend pretty far North (in the 100's street numbers) are acceptable?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. speedgraphic Posted May 1, 2010 Author Report Posted May 1, 2010 OK change of plans, I only need the night of 5/13 now. I'd first like to bid up to 4*, then keep trying if rejected. Anywhere in Manhattan is fine. I haven't tried bidding this night yet but I tried bidding 5/11 and 5/12 and just gave up as I had every zone selected and was getting $155 bids rejected. If only I had travelled a week earleir.
