warwick61 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I'm having trouble getting a good deal on priceline for a 4 star hotel in NYC. I'll only be there for one night before returnig to Australia. I had thought that i might stay in Brooklyn and get public transport into the city for my last bit of sightseeing. I would appreciate advice about Brooklyn re hotels and travel into the city. Thanks

warwick61 Posted April 29, 2010 Author Report Posted April 29, 2010 I've bid on the cnetral manahttan zones that you recommend up to around $150 (less add ons.) I've no doubt that i can get a room if i keep going higher but i'm trying to reduce costs. Brooklyn 3-4 star seems to be OK but i need some advice re subway transport into Manhatten and the proximity of the Brooklyn hotels to the Subway stations. I don't want to bid for and win a hotel which is loctaed too far away from a station.Thanks.
thereuare Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Which zones and how high have you bid?So we know if you have exhausted all of your options, please let us know the zones, by PRICELINE name, that you have already bid. Also, you have only bid for 4* hotels, correct.. why not lower your star rating before venturing out towards Brooklyn? There are no 4* hotels in Brooklyn anyway, so it would seem to make sense to lower your star rating within Manhattan first before trying outside of the island.Which airport to you fly out of????Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. warwick61 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 Thanks for the advice- i'll have another go at a lower star rating. Departure airport is JFK. Zones tried are CPS, ESB, MTW, MTE- as per your recommendation for Manmhatan.
thereuare Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 It's likely out of your budget but is there a reason you're not including the Times Square zone when bidding at the 4* level? What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
