kikkoman Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Hello Everyone,This is my first post as I've just stumbled upon this website. Seems very helpful from what I've read thus far. Anyhow, onto business :) I am planning on traveling from Houston to Europe from June 19th to July 3rd. We checked and it appears that the flights are cheaper from Houston to Athens, then from Athens to Rome, and from back to Athens, then from Athens back to Houston. Instead of Houston to Rome, then from Rome to Athens, etc. Which is switched from the above. We want to hit the main tourist areas in Rome and Athens so whichever hotels around there is fine. I done a quick search and Athens appears to have Athens Ledra Marriott, Athenaeum InterContinental Athens, and Hilton Athens around the area close to the Acropolis. I'm sure there are other hotels but any of these 3 would do. Maybe Intercontinental or Hilton preferably. For Rome, I haven't done much search there. All in all, it appears that the flights are pretty expensive for what we even want to pay so hopefully we can get good deals here. We plan on staying at Athens from say June 19-25th. Then flying to Rome on the 25th and staying there from 25-July 3rd and going back to the US. The dates are set from June 19-July3 but depending on airfare, we may fly into Rome 1st versus Athens, but we plan on staying at each place almost the same time, but maybe in Rome a little more. Please let me know. Thanks in advance,
thereuare Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!...Athens appears to have Athens Ledra Marriott, Athenaeum InterContinental Athens, and Hilton Athens around the area close to the Acropolis. I'm sure there are other hotels but any of these 3 would do.While any of these three will do, keep in mind that when bidding on PRICELINE you won't be able to only bid on these three property, you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select. (although on HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess before your purchase as to the hotel you may receive based upon the amenities shown)Rates are dates specific so you can't start bidding until your plans/dates for each city are firm. Let us know once your dates for each location are finalized and you're ready to start bidding, and we'll look at current rates and suggest a strategy at that time. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know once you're ready to move forward and we'll try to be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
kikkoman Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 Thanks for the info thereuare! I will try to book my flights by end of next week or earlier and should be back to post the specifics of the dates. Now I need to find some cheap flights! So expensive :) But hopefully finding good hotel deals will make me feel much better :) Thanks,
