Hi there,

we would like to spend a week in Chicago and considering 5 nights we would like to have the best choice for the Hotel.

What have been offered in Hotwire is:

4* MM-Streeterville, Ammenities: Fittness, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet; Overall Sat: 4,5; Recommended in 80%, 500+reviews; price: USD 123,--

4,5* MM-Streeterville, Ammenities: Fittness, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet; Overall Sat: 4,5 (for location: 5,0); Recommended in 80%, 500+reviews; price: USD 109,--

Can please someone help us. Preferrible we would like to be in the Swissotel but I am afraid none of it is it. Or should I wait?

Thanks a lot for a quick help and apologize my bad english.

Greetings from Europe

The 4.5* could possibly be the Intercontinental, Conrad or James, but would likely be the Intercontinental.

The 4* could possibly be the Hyatt, Hard Rock, Sheraton or Westin River North. The tripadvisor rating of 4/5 on the detail page that I'm seeing for this listing would make me lean towards this possibly being the Hard Rock.

I'd certainly recommend the cheaper 4.5*.

Thanks a lot for your answer and clearly I am using the links for looking and booking in HOTWIRE.

The prices has changed and I have found another interesting offer, but is in in the "loop" area.

4* Loop, Ammenities: Fittness, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet; Overall Sat: 4,5; Recommended in 85%, 500+reviews; Customer rating Trip Advisor is 3,5; price: USD 79,--. Could be the W. What do you think?

One more question: I have never been in Chicago and mainly we are going for shopping and tourist tour. Is the "Loop" area a good one to start those tours? Many thanks for answering.

The 4* property in the Loop is likely the W City Center. This is a "love it or hate it" boutique property that is definitely a trendy property, as is the W chain. I quite liked it, but I can see where others who are looking for a more standard 4* property may not enjoy it.

The W is in the West Loop; while this is a good deal for that property, it is in an area that isn't entirely optimal from a tourist standpoint: it gets very quiet later in the evening. Additionally, if you are going for shopping, there is shopping on nearby State St, but more shopping on Michigan Ave, which is definitely a good walk from this property.

My main recommendation would be to search on HOTWIRE for these dates for 2 adults and 2 children. If you do so, a listing at the 3.5* level in the Mag Mile-Streeterville area comes up with the amenities Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet, Business for $89. This would be a possible match for the Embassy Suites Lakefront. While not a 4*, this would be a superb location and would offer free breakfast and evening reception. Really nice area near Michigan Ave, and while not a 4* property, this is a very nice 3.5*. The breakfast/evening reception and larger suite room would also be a nice added value.

Thanks again for your message. I followed your recommendations and booked the 3.5* Hotel via HOTWIRE and actually it is confirmed the Embassy Suites Lakefront for $89,--room/night from 5/10-5/15.

Looking forward to have a great time next week!

Congratulations on your success. :)

This is a truly superb deal for this Embassy Suites property! Free breakfast, evening reception and there is a giant grocery store (Dominicks) across the street, where you can get snacks/drinks to take back to the kitchenette in the room. One does have to sign up for the Dominicks reward program (free to sign up for, takes a couple of minutes) to get most of the sales in the store.

Please post if you have any questions at all about the city or hotel. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link.

Enjoy your stay.
