Priceline Hotel: Help for New York - May 5-8, 3* and up

I could really use some suggestions around Priceline strategy.

Before finding your site I was just plugging in all of the areas in midtown Manhattan and a price of $120 -$130. It keeps getting rejected and then I understand I can't retry for 24 hours.

I'm pretty flexible on hotels. I would like to be in the midtown area - close to Union Sq. I'm willing to pay up to $150 for anything 3* and above.

Please tell me what to do.

If you would like to be close (or at least close-ish) to Union Square, I'm guessing ESB, MSG-Convention, Chelsea, Times Square and MTE would be acceptable? Would MTW be too far? Would your budget be $150 "all-in" (w/taxes/fees) or $150 + taxes/fees?

I think MTW would be fine. Yes, $150 "all-in" is my preference. Any advice?

My bids have included Chelsea, DSF, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW and TS

I didn't know about being strategic so I was just putting them all in and trying a price - which I learned then blocked me from rebidding!

If you've already bid up to your limit ($130 bid --> $150 all-in) there is not much else you can do. Your options come down to:

1) wait it out and try again (although i would bid more strategically)

2) consider other zones

3) lower your star rating (i wouldn't go lower than 3* unless you have no other choice)

4) raise your maximum bid

Is your budget flexible at all... a maximum bid amount (not all-in) of $150 may be the difference between success and failure, or at the very least would give you more of a fighting chance.

I think the window is open for me to try again (24 hrs has passed) so I'd like to be more strategic this time. I can up my to $140 or $150 but I'd like to stay in this area of NYC.
