Priceline Hotel: 4* DC (White House-Downtown) JW Marriott

Followed the fantastic advice on this forum in hopes of getting JW Marriott ($159 at every site - Marriott, Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc.):

1. $52, 4*, White House/Downtown --> rejected, no counter

2. $58, + Alexandria Mt. Vernon --> rejected, no counter

3. $63, + Alexandria Pentagon --> rejected, no counter

4. $78, + Arlington ---> ACCEPTED by JW Marriott!

This was my first time bidding on a hotel, and most of the posts on here talked about counter offers - so I panicked after my 3rd bid was rejected with no counter and raised it $15. Maybe could have won a little lower, but, looking at big picture; it was still 50% off the lowest price I found. Not bad for Presidents Day weekend!

Just curious, did they recently drop their counter offers, or did I just come in too low to start?

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Thank you for sharing your winning bid and results with the rest of the board.

The counter-offers seem to have a bit of a randomness to them, and is discussed further in this thread: PRICELINE COUNTER-OFFER.

A lot can be gained from a counter-offer, but i don't think too much can be gained from a lack of one.
