moellis1 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hello, I'm looking to book a hotel for one night on 5/6. My first choice is MTW, then MTE, last TS. My price range is $150 MAX. So I'm looking at 2.5 *'s.I used the PRICELINE link on this page and started my bid at MTW $100 for 2.5* (rejected) then went to MTW, MTE and $115 (rejected) Then MTW,MTE, TS for $120...still rejected. .I read that 3 ppl got the Roosevelt for $110 for that night. Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated!
AaronJB Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)You are not doing anything incorrectly; rates may vary from day-to-day so your date may require a higher bid than other users who have won for other dates. Additionally, in terms of the same date, if another user won this date for $110, they may have won that more than a month ago and prices for the Spring have been going higher in recent weeks. In terms of 2.5*'s, the Roosevelt is a 3.5* - have you been bidding for 3.5* or 2.5*? Additionally, is your budget $150 + taxes/fees or $150 "all-in" (including taxes/fees.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
moellis1 Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 Yesterday I began my bid at 2.5*...today I started at 3.5*...still no luck :)$150 is my budget for total (including taxes)I'm thinking of bidding on a room close to the airport since they are less $$ but will probably pay more in cab rides.
thereuare Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 How are you getting to the city... if driving from which direction, if flying which airport, if train which station do you arrive, or coming by bus? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. moellis1 Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 That is still up in the air...we will either be taking a train into penn station or driving down from Boston. We are leaving for a cruise on the 7th out of NY so it will be a short visit.
thereuare Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I only see a Coasta ship leaving from NYC on 5/7... if that's not the ship you're on, are you leaving from Bayonne? (or Red Hook?)
