Clementyne Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 We are going on Carnival's Inspiration out of Tampa in June, and I would like to Priceline a couple of rooms near the port, but I'm not sure which areas to bid on that are near the port where Carnival goes out of...can anyone help? Thanks in advance!Clem
kurtvro Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Downtown Tampa area. Most hotels run shuttles to the cruise port but a cab ride shouldn't cost more then $10. Also there is a trolley that cost $2 a person to the cruise port.

Clementyne Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 I need 2 rooms for June 18th....we cruise out the next afternoon. So my bid zone is just downtown? I'd like to grab 2 rooms for $200 or less. Clem
Clementyne Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 sorry...star rating: 3 * or higher....is it possible to think I could get each room for under $100 each?Clem
thereuare Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Your budget should be fine... in fact, you can likely get a hotel rated higher than 3* within your budget. Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MadFlyer Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Tampa is a great PRICELINE market like Atlanta as you have so many re-bids. Currently there are no 4 star downtown so with 3.5 star you have every zone as a re-bid exept the 3 airport zones. I bet you can win for 49 or 50, but would only have to go to 55 on the high end. With all those re-bids you can just jump a dollar at a time. Do not accept their offers as you will get the room for less by just re-bidding . Good luck.
Clementyne Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 Thereuare, my goal would be to get the best 3* or better for the least amount of money. So I do all of the downtown zones?Clem
MadFlyer Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Thereuare, my goal would be to get the best 3* or better for the least amount of money. So I do all of the downtown zones?ClemThere is only one Tampa (Downtown) zone. The 3 1/2 star hotels appear in only 4 Tampa zones. You bid Downtown first, then re-open browser link again and bid Downtown + one zone that does not have 3 1/2 star rooms, for example Brandon. Then if you do not win you bid again and add another that does not have this class of hotel. Only the Downtown and the 3 Airport zones have these. If you avoid the airport zones you can only win a 3 1/2 in Downtown Tampa. The problem with 3 stars in Tampa is that they appear in all zones and you therefore have no re-bids and can only bid once every 24 hours. The lowest reported Courtyard Downtown win so far has been $51. I think the Hyatt or Westin for only $49 to $55 would be good, especially when your origional budget was $100. Good luck.
