brewbaron Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hello all. I'm trying to book a room for the dates of May 11th - 15th. The preferences are either 4 star in the Dupont Circle area or 3.5 star in the White House area. The reason for this is the hotels in these zones/star levels are within walking distance of my girlfriend's office. Cost isn't too much of a factor, I have bid up to 188 on the 4 star Dupont Circle hotels without success. I've noticed a lot of people are booking the Westin in the White House area in the 80 - 110 range but I haven't had success with that either. Is this due to the relatively long stay (4 nights) or perhaps there is some large event that week I'm unaware of? Any help would be much appreciated.
MIguy Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hello!I am actually going to be in DC from May 12-16 for National Police Week. This is a huge event that draws thousands of people. It is also the week of the graduation cermonies of both Georgetown and GW. You will likely not find a hotel in those areas (at 3.5* or 4*) for under $215 or so (before taxes).I have a few suggestions if you are interested.
thereuare Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 brewbaron,Based upon the above do you have a maximum bid in mind? I know you said that price isn' too much of an issue, but often it becomes a factor as you being to get into the $200's.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. brewbaron Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 MIguy, thanks for that info. I guess my timing is far from ideal, I can imagine those events are making finding a deal quite a bit more difficult. If you have any tips on booking during that week I'd love to hear them. thereuare, yes, I'd be willing to go up to ~215 for a 4 star but I'd be a little apprehensive doing so for a 3.5 star. Also thanks very much for this great forum and be assured I'll be bidding via your PRICELINE link. Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Since MIguy has already researched hotels for these dates let's wait to hear what he has found... then we'll see if we might be able to do better with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE.If he hasn't reply after 72 hours please bump this thread and we'll start researching on our own. Thanks in advance for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your purchases. brewbaron Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 Update: I've now bid up to $163 for a 3.5 star in the White House area without success :)
MIguy Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Update: I've now bid up to $163 for a 3.5 star in the White House area without success :)Sorry for the delayed response. Here is what I have found:In Georgetown, the 3* Latham Hotel is available at $159+ tax via their own website. In Dupont Circle neighborhood itself, the 3* Windsor Inn is available at $169 via most sitesAlso in Dupont, the 3* Embassy Inn (NOT Embassy Suites!) is available at $215 via Reservetravel.comThose are three cheapest places at 3* or above that I could find within 1 mile to Dupont or White House.
brewbaron Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 Thank you all for your help. I ended up booking The Rouge Hotel for ~260 a night. Definetly not a deal in any sense of the word but the best I could do for those dates *sigh*

brewbaron Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 No it was through the hotel's website. I figured if I was spending that much I might as well know what hotel I was booking. Thanks for all your help.
