koolma Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Hi,I hope this is the right place to ask this question. If not, please direct me to the right place! My husband and I are going to NYC for the first time to see a show at RCMH on Oct. 1. We will stay one night, as the budget won't allow us more. We would like to stay within walking distance to RCMH. We have no problem with walking for 15 minutes, if it is safe. We are NOT city people and not used to being in a big city. We are also in our 60's.So we need a hotel, maybe 3* , for Oct 1. Amenities are simple: private bath! Any help in searching for one would be appreciated. Hoping for something under $200.We can use a queen, king or 2 doubles. Whatever. Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The MTW, CPS and Times Square zones should put you within an easy walk of Radio City Music Hall. You should look at these zones and confirm that each will work well for your needs. If all of these zones seem ok, i would begin as follows:At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Times Square...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* CPS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW and Times Square...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW and CPS...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW and Times Square and CPS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150The above is likely a little low, but with plenty of time on your side i would start this low and try to lowball first, then if rejected, we can revise to try again in 24 hours.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. koolma Posted May 10, 2010 Author Report Posted May 10, 2010 This is not really a reply, but I could not see how to start my own topic. I have been looking for a 4* or 3.5* in NYC, preferably TS for Oct. 1, 2010. I started by looking at the latest wins and tried to match those, but had no luck. Then I read that someone suggested checking winning bids for the previous year, so I tried that. I started with bids of $120, which wouldn't even get me a 3 *. Then I added MTE and MTW, and also upped my bids to as high as $165. No luck. Now I am seeing that last years winning bids were closer to $180-210. Tonight I will try TS 4* for $180, then add 3.5* if that fails. I am new to this and still a bit confused. We have never been to NYC and want to be in a clean and safe hotel within walking distance to RCMH. Any suggestions, anyone?
