HelenofTroy Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 I'm trying to figure out if PRICELINE or HOTWIRE have hotels like the Doubletree or another suite-like site? I do see the DT on their sites (using your links, thx!) but I don't know if they're biddable? Any suggestions most appreciated. BTW, I used your site a couple years ago for NYC. Glad to see you're still in biz.best regards
AaronJB Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Welcome Back. :)Please provide a follow-up for your prior Hotwire NYC (post the details in that thread), then reply to this thread and then we would be happy to offer our thoughts on the above question.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
HelenofTroy Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 Thx for reminding me to update!
thereuare Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Welcome back :)You can see the hotel reported to the board thru priceline and hotwire in the respective Priceline Hotel List and Hotwire Hotel List. However, even if available, with PRICELINE you can't bid on a specific hotel or type of hotel... you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone a the star rating, or higher, that you select. If you're looking for a specific type of property i would search HOTWIRE where you can look for the "S" icon which designates a suite-type property. From there, if something appears within your budget and desired star rating, we can see if we can try to determine the property offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you find and we'll take it from there. HelenofTroy Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hello!Using your HOTWIRE link, I did find one S (Suite, thx for that tip, BTW). But it wasn't anywhere near downtown. Since it's only one nite, we'd be able to have one room, especially if it's higher end and walking distance to sites, sounds, food and drink! The most expensive $114 was a 4-star:4-star hotel in Downtown Austin and Town LakeThis hotel features the following amenities:Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Haven't decided whether to bate PRICELINE or not. Thoughts?
yellowdog Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Haven't decided whether to bate Priceline or not. Thoughts?Try PRICELINE for what you think is your max for an unknown hotel. If no hit go the HOTWIRE route. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
HelenofTroy Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 Anyone have any idea what the $114 hotel is? The Radisson?
AaronJB Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Please provide the date/s of travel.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
HelenofTroy Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 May 2-3, 2010. Yep, this coming Sunday. Thx!
thereuare Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 The amenities above are common for a 4* hotel and matches multiple hotels in the area... the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental, and Omni have all been reported with this amenity combination, so any of these would be my best guess. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
duncan36 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Just a FYI but the Suite icon on HOTWIRE can mean just a standard extended stay room with a kitchen. This is because hotels dont seem to like advertising the fact they have kitchens so Hotwire lets them put the Suite icon instead.
thereuare Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 This is how HOTWIRE currently defines the requirements for a hotel to display the Suite icon:A guestroom designed for an extended stay and/or that more spacious than the average hotel room. Suites typically offer residential-style furnishings, as well as separate living and sleeping areas; some also offer kitchenettes. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
