margovoni Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Hi there, I am new to betterbidding, I am trying to found a good deal for my vacation in May to NYC - 5/1-5/8So far I have a $180+tax on Hilton Garden Inn TribecaI'd like to stay in the Tribeca Soho area on a 4*, is it realistic to bid for a 150 all in?Also I have other friends, 2 couples coming from Italy staying 5/1-5/7 (leaving one day earlier), how can I make sure we stay at the same hotel? Thank you.
thereuare Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Few comments...With both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE, Soho and Tribeca are part of the larger "Downtown" zone and you won't be able to tareget just the Soho/Tribeca section of the zone... you'll need to be willing to accept a hotel in any part of the zone that you select.Based upon current rates, I'm doubtful that $150 all-in will be enough for a 4* hotel for the dates above... HOTWIRE does have a 3.5* in the Midtown East zone for $133 (plus fees and taxes), but nothing at the moment near your budget in the Downtown area at the 4* (or 3.5*) level. As far as a room for you and your friends, you'll either need to bid/purchase as follows:1) 2 rooms for 5/1-5/7 and one room for 5/7-5/8, with the user of the room for the nite of 5/7 possibly needing to change hotels for the last nite2) 1 room for 5/1-5/7 and one room for 5/1-5/8, neither guest will have to change properties, but no assurance you'll receive the same hotelPlease use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. margovoni Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Followed the link in your website for PRICELINEStarted with 4*+ MTE and 130added ESB and 140added Chelsey and 150added TS and 155added MSG and 160added MTW and 165added Downtown and 170 rejectedIs it because of the 3 rooms or the 6 days? I saw somebody won the W New York for 150..Any help?We would like to stay in Grand Hyatt MTE but any 4* in Manhattan would be ok.Max price 170 without taxes. Need the 3 rooms..Thank you.
thereuare Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in th same thread.I think the difficult you're encountering is simply that rates for these dates are very expensive for these dates.Do you still have your back-up at the Hilton Garden Inn?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. margovoni Posted April 25, 2010 Author Report Posted April 25, 2010 I do still have the backup at the Hilton, however I though I might get a better deal for a 3* with priceline or pay almost the same price for a 4*.Do I have any chances?
thereuare Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 As it doesn't hurt to try, and inventory (and prices) can change frequently, I would continue to give it a go, but i'm doubtful that at the moment $170 will be enough for a 3.5* or 4* hotel for these dates. You may be able to get something at the 3* level for a similar price and be more midtown located, but that's something you'll need to decide if you want to try that now or only close to your arrival. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. AaronJB Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Prices have gone up significantly for this time period since earlier this year. The HGI Tribeca for these dates is now far higher at $370 per night (interesting case study in terms of how rates have risen for this time period since late last year/early this year) on Orbitz - other 3*/4* properties on Orbitz in the downtown area are anywhere from the high $200's to high $300's.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
margovoni Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 We booked on Expedia.it (the Italian site) for the RAMADA New Yorker3 rooms 5/1 to 5/7 (6 nights) Total per night per room with taxes $ 223Then I decided to use PRICELINE (linked from your site) to book the last night 5/8 only 1 room.started with3* MSG 100added TS and 130added MTW and 135added ESB and 140 won the Courtyard Manhattan! Not bad considering they have 289 per night in their websiteThank you!
