lsp1978 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Hello, administrator: I will stay in NYC with friends from 05/25-5/30 (5nights) to look the Fleet Week. I want to bid 3*-3.5* hotel in NYC (only: 1st Manhhatan, finally L.I.C,Brooklyn; without Airport area ) and want 2 queen bed room. I reviewed the record of others in these area, the lowest price of 3*-3.5* is about $85-95. My budget is 3* 80-90, 3.5*90-105. Please give me some advise of skill & price, Thanks!
thereuare Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, you can't bid on a room with 2 beds (queen or otherwise)... all that PRICELINE guarantees is that the room will accommodate double occupancy; after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and unforunately, in NYC rooms with 2 beds often come at a premium (hotels have fewer rooms with 2 beds and they can often cost extra). How many guests will you actually be?Also, to stay in Manhattan, your budget is probably not enough for a 3* hotel for these dates. Rates are date specific, so you can't look at the lowest priced wins reported to the board at the 3* level and expect that the lowest possible rate will be available for your own dates (i'm assuming the sub-$100 rates you're referring to were in the winter, which is low season in NYC, whereas your stay is in the Spring, typically a more expensive time period)Let's start with how many guests you'll be (or are there only two people you just prefer separate beds) and we'll go over your options from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lsp1978 Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Thanks for reply! I found that the jersey city is a very good chosen. I dicide to bid the hotel in jersey city.
lsp1978 Posted April 24, 2010 Author Report Posted April 24, 2010 Help!! I bid from $90-116 (check in/out 5.25-5.30), can't get 4* in jersey city (hyatt, westin,w hotel), Why?The most expensive price recorded is $107.Why can't I get 1 room with this price? Pls give advise!Thank you!
thereuare Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Why?Same reason as above... these dates are more expensive than usual, which often requires a higher than usual bid.The most expensive price recorded is $107. Why can't I get 1 room with this price? There are reported wins on the board in this zone at more than $107. However, keep in mind that this area is often used as a "nyc substitute"... so often when rates here get high, many ultimately stay in Manhattan as the savings may not be worth the 'second choice' in area. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
