kelly85 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 HiyaWe are totally new to priceline and after reading about it we decided to have ago. We have bid $85 for the 09/09/10 for 4 nights in Las Vegas strip north, this was decliened with an offer of $170 a night (nearly double!!) we then added strip south and bid $96 which was also declined. Would anyone sugest adding boulder strip as it has no 5 star hotels or do I wait till tomorrow and try $100. Ive seen alot of people have won the 5 stars for between$85-$95. Any help would be much appreciated. ThanksKelly :)
vancouversunshine Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Hi there,You can add Boulder, Henderson, Downtown, Summerlin, etc. as there are no 5 star properties in those areas either. HOTWIRE has what looks the Trump for $99 (in North Vicinity) and a South Strip Hotel for $123 (not yet rated, possibly Vdara or Aria?). So you are probably close. Your dates are probably more expensive than the May dates for $92 (one was my successful bid). Good luck!
yellowdog Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 kelly85Welcome to BetterBidding :) Rates are date specific so you can't really compare past/future wins with your dates. Things can change very fast.If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the rating for the hotel. Please read this link about adding zones: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
kelly85 Posted April 23, 2010 Author Report Posted April 23, 2010 Thanks for the reply. I must have bid 10-15 times now and upped my bid to $130! would you recommend waiting till nearer the time? is it cheaper the closer you book to the dates you travel? we want to sept 9th - 13th 4 nights, if i went down to two would i have a better chance? thanks
kelly85 Posted April 23, 2010 Author Report Posted April 23, 2010 Im not familar with hotwire but that does sound good for $123 ill have a look into it thanks
AaronJB Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 There is no way to know if rates will come down or not closer to your dates - if there is something going on and/or a busy time period in the area in general, one day the rates for your dates could suddenly jump higher and/or new HOTWIRE listings may appear. If your bidding continues to not be accepted as your dates get closer, splitting your stay may be an option depending on prices, but I would definitely not suggest doing that at this point. What would be your desired max budget per night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kelly85 Posted April 25, 2010 Author Report Posted April 25, 2010 yeah we we thinking we would wait till nearer the time. Do you know if the prices are more expencive because we are from the uk? ideally we dont want to pay more than
Romelle Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Kelly,Las Vegas is one of those funny places where sometimes the rates on the hotel web sites are better than one can do from bidding. I speak from personal experience, unfortunately I checked after I had a bid accepted. Not a huge difference, but worth taking the time to check first. Romelle
