I am planning a trip to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend, Thursday - Sunday or Monday. I will be driving in. I would like to get a hotel near an L Station, but seems all near the loop and MMA have $40 - $50 parking fees. I have never been before and don't want to get into any unsafe areas. Any advice?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

When will your plans be firm regarding the date of your departure? What is your desired star rating and budget?

You can likely find cheaper parking in the city separate from your hotel OR park outside of the city at a lower expense and take the L into the city.

Chicago is a pretty compact city; if you are just going to be around downtown, there's no need to be right near an "L" station.

There are cheaper parking options (Navy Pier is about $24 per night), but if you don't want to pay parking at all, there are some VERY nice, upscale suburbs where hotel prices are cheaper and parking is free. You could drive to the nearest Metra station and take the train downtown/back each day. The Metra trains are quite nice, too.
